Part-time Seasonal Farm Team Member

We are looking to hire a Farm Team Member to help with day-to-day farm tasks, splitting their time between participating farm tenants who are looking for regular help.

Duties may include but are not limited to: 

  • Participate in all aspects of farming on ⪯ 1 acre, with the majority of their time weeding, cultivating, transplanting and harvesting throughout the season

  • Other duties may include washing produce, packing CSA boxes, and cleaning.  

  • Work alongside farmers 

  • Work with farm tools 

  • Support irrigation line setup/decommission, troubleshooting irrigation issues

  • Moving mulch/compost as needed

  • Mow, weedwack, and otherwise maintain the borders/edges of the farming area

  • Communicate with farmers through various methods including but not limited to text, whatsapp, written and verbal communication.

    **Ability to operate a tractor is a plus!

Tomorrow’s Homestead is an 18-acre property that focuses on providing long-term lease opportunities to small and beginning farmers.

There are currently six small-scale farm tenants growing diversified vegetables and flowers at our property. Each farm tenant operates their own business independently but the group works very closely to support each other by sharing resources, equipment and collaborating in various market opportunities (i.e CSA, farmers market, wholesale).

15-20 hrs/week scheduled at Farm Team Member’s availability 

Seasonal role: April 1st to October 31st, flexible start and end dates

$17-18/hr dependent on experience 

1099 Contractor position

Qualifications 

  • At least 2 years experience working on an agricultural farm

  • Experience with and knowledge of harvesting, processing, seed starting, field planting and transplants, field maintenance, irrigation, bed prep planting and cleaning produce

    **Experience using farm equipment or vehicles is a plus (walk-behind tractors, tiller, etc)

  • Background check required 

  • Proactive and self-motivated with a strong work ethic

  • Organized and able to manage tasks and time efficiently

  • Positive and solution-oriented 

  • Strong communication skills

  • Passion for farming and learning, flexible to varying tasks

  • Ability and willingness to complete physical work outdoors in varying weather conditions that can be physically demanding (harvesting, planting, weeding, digging, etc)

  • Ability to life 50+ lbs safely and perform repetitive tasks

  • Legally able to work in the US without sponsorship 

  • Valid drivers license and ability to commute to the farm on consistent basis
